Intentional and quietly disruptive, FORME is shifting the focus: putting the dancer’s needs before the demands of the art form.

we’re forme. The pointe of difference!

Forme is built on the love for ballet and a commitment to keeping dancers strong, supported, and safe. At forme we offer expert pre pointe assessments, pointe shoes fittings, and ongoing mentorship while working closely with schools, dancers, and parents to ensure proper technique and education are accessible AT EVERY STAGE OF THE DANCER’S TIME ON POINTE.

in an industry where ‘no pain, no gain’ or ‘back in my day’ mentality still lingers, forme shifts the focus to injury prevention and sustainable long-term dancer wellbeing.

We are the go to in pointe safety and education.

Based in Warkworth with mobile services in The north Island, New Zealand, FORME brings professional, dancer-first support and care directly to schools, studios, and families.

Our goal is to make pointe shoe assessments and fittings more accessible, ensuring that all dancers receive the right support and guidance.

What’s the point(e)?

Pointe Shoe Fittings

A pre-pointe assessment evaluates a dancer’s strength, technique, and maturity to ensure they are ready to begin pointe work safely. Following the assessment, dancers, teachers, and parents will receive a comprehensive report, including detailed findings, photos, and tailored recommendations.

If necessary, we may refer the dancer to additional healthcare professionals, such as podiatrists, osteopaths, or physiotherapists, to support their progression onto pointe.

Pre Pointe Assessments

Our approach goes beyond traditional fitting methods. We’re setting a new standard for dancer well-being, ensuring that pointe work is built on strength, knowledge, and proper support, rather than risky habits that can compromise a dancer’s health.

During the fitting, we take the time to find a pointe shoe that provides the right support at the wing, arch, and heel. While the process can sometimes be challenging, we’re here to simplify it and listen to your needs every step of the way.

Who is behind forme?

I’m Lily Ewing, the founder of FORME, and a dedicated dance educator with a strong background in classical ballet. My journey began at the age of three in Auckland, New Zealand, where I was fortunate to be mentored by a number of inspiring teachers. I furthered my training at The New Zealand School of Dance, completing the full-time programme, and had the incredible opportunity to attend secondments at the National Ballet School of Canada and Houston Ballet School.

My time at NZSD also allowed me to participate in open classes with companies and schools such as the Royal New Zealand Ballet, Queensland Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, School of American Ballet, and Joffrey Ballet—experiences that enriched my understanding of ballet from multiple perspectives. I was offered a placement in the professional programme at Houston Ballet.

After returning to New Zealand, I shifted my focus to teaching, specialising in competition coaching, RAD exam preparation, open classes, repertoire, contemporary dance, and Progressing Ballet Technique ( PBT ).

I am committed to supporting dancers at all levels—whether they pursue dance recreationally or professionally. I focus on safe dance practices, clean technique, and building the strength necessary for future growth. I am particularly dedicated to ensuring longevity and safety in dance, especially in pointe work. To further this goal, I trained and became certified in pointe shoe fittings and pre-pointe assessments under the Juon Pointe system, working closely with Esther Juon.

With FORME, I’m excited to offer accessible, thorough pre-pointe assessments and pointe shoe fittings to dancers in New zealand, helping them build a solid foundation for their pointe work and ensuring a safe, sustainable dance practice.
